What ArtValue values, and what it refuses
Paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures, watches, jewellery, furniture, silverware, ceramics, glass, textiles, antique books, collectable arms made before 1900. It is strong on signed or identifiable pieces, more cautious on anonymous objects.
It refuses coins, stamps, musical instruments, wine and spirits, natural history and arms made after 1900, and says so rather than guessing. Without a photo, and without a recognised artist and title, it never invents a range: it refuses.

At a stall, in a clearance lot or on consignment, you decide fast and by eye. ArtValue adds one more input before you commit, without replacing your eye.
- Before buying: a photo taken on the spot is enough to know whether the signature matches a recognised artist, and what price range their works sell in.
- To set a resale price: the range and comparables give you a defensible reference when a buyer haggles.
- To choose where to resell: the recommended channel tells you whether the object belongs at auction, on a specialised platform or on your stall.
- To sort a lot: the 20-estimate pack works out at €2.00 per object, credits valid one year.
🛡 Insuring your belongings
Many households insure their contents without knowing what the living-room painting or the family jewellery is worth. ArtValue helps you draw up a first priced inventory: a range per object and a dated PDF report to keep with your own photos and receipts. An ArtValue estimate is not an agreed value. To insure a valuable object at an agreed value, insurers usually ask for an appraisal by a professional. ArtValue tells you which objects deserve one.

The limits, plainly
- The estimate is indicative and non-binding. It is neither an official appraisal nor a certificate of authenticity.
- ArtValue only sees what the photo shows: a poorly photographed, restored or copied object can mislead the analysis.
- Market data are public sales results, updated regularly but not in real time.
- For an important piece, a sale, agreed-value insurance or a disputed inheritance, call on an appraiser or auctioneer. ArtValue helps you know when it's worth it.

The first estimate is free, with no credit card; an email address is enough. After that, each estimate costs €2.99, or less with the 10- and 20-estimate packs and the Pro subscription.
Is an ArtValue estimate enough to insure an object?
It's enough for a first inventory and a conversation with your insurer. For agreed-value insurance, insurers usually ask for a professional appraisal.
What is the range based on?
On sales results published by auction houses and specialised platforms, comparable by artist or family of objects, medium and period.
Can a dealer use it on the spot?
Yes: a photo taken with your phone is enough, and the answer arrives in about a minute.
What if ArtValue doesn't recognise the object?
It says so. Without a usable photo, and without a recognised artist and title, it refuses to give a range rather than invent one.
